Students for Global Democracy (SGD) is carrying out a project on responsible citizenship and civic culture to instill a sense of civic responsibility in Ugandan youth by engaging youth in community service activities and showing youth the real-life consequences of violence and the benefits of constructive civic engagement. Uganda has witnessed a rise in youth-led violence and destructive youth political engagement in the past two decades.
Students for Global Democracy Uganda has carried out a Youth Green Light Movement induction and mobilisation campaign in secondary schools and communities in the Central and Rubaga divisions of Kampala.
The campaign whose objective, is to mobilise and organise young people to generate action oriented thoughts on issues that affect them is highly beneficial because it moves in to create platform for accountability
Through schools and community outreach programs, we do engage the students and the community in the democratization process through empowering them with the knowledge and fundamental principles of human rights and democracy. It is imperative that, youth population in Uganda, which comprise of 64%, are aware of their rights, roles and are, empowered to make informed decisions.

SGD-Uganda last week carried out a cleanup exercise activity in Matugga trading centre; in Wakiso District. This exercise brought on board several key stakeholders in the community such as the Uganda Police, Areas leaders, the prisons officials, several youth within the community, SGD-Uganda members.

Students represent a top priority for the global development stakeholders, and a new generation of support. An estimated half a million student, from primary school to university, participate worldwide in global programs each year. However, student community is not well informed on the adverse effects of climate change. There is little accessible literature, promotional materials like banners, leaflets, manuals and all the related IEC materials on climate change.
Is a students led not-for-profit and non-partisan organization which inspires young people, principally students to adopt to the culture of leadership. good governance and sustainability, to effectively enable them participate in the democratic process and sustainable development of their country and the outside world.
